This scupltural arrangement of rings was created simply by rotating a frame formed with 3 rings at right angle to one another. The Z axis is translational while the X,Y axes are rotational.
You can realize this form on stereolithography, a technique in which creates a tangible 3-D object from a CAD drawing by directing ultraviolet laser radiation onto a vat of polymer resin (liquid plastic).
Op art, aka optical art, uses repetitive geometrical entities such as curves, lines and other geometric shapes to create eye-stimulating images. Sometimes our confused brains interpret the visual information as illusion, giving rise to Op art that utilizes optical illusions. Op art evolved out of Pop art in the 1960's and developed its own school of artists.
