Certain tessellations are useful in creating a new optical art.
First, it is necessary to come up with a tessellation you are happy with and then divide each module into something like in the image below. Note that each module should have 4 sides and it's not necessary for all 4 sides to have the same length, though. For unexpected result it is better to have all four sides with different length. You can create so many interesting with this technique.
The following result was obtained by putting together polygons with the same length on its sides. Starting from equilateral triangle, then square, pentagon, hexagon and so on. The each vertex is connected with lines. Note the 3D effect it creates particularly at the lower part.
